Hey everyone, It is Grant from the Matthew 25 Network. I'm a little surprised that is has not been diaried on MyDD. But, Today we saw our first hard attack against Sen. Obama on Christian Radio by James Dobson.
you can listen to it here - http://www.focusonthefamily.com/
Instead of just reporting on what Dobson said. And offering a response. I wanted to share how you can help reach voters, like Dobson's listeners, so in the future they also receive a positive message about Sen. Obama.
Hello, I'm Grant, I am working with the Matthew 25 Network as diaried earlier by Deoliver47. Matthew 25 will be reaching out to diverse Christian communities with a positive message for our endorsed candidate- Senator Barack Obama.
Let me share a bit about myself and what we are trying to do. I am a seminary student and spend a lot, perhaps the bulk, of my time working with evangelicals in modern America. My commitment is to do what I can to take back the Gospel values that have been hijacked by the Christian Right. We believe that religious values can inform political values, and that does not have to mean voting for Republicans!
The Matthew 25 Network will be the first PAC that organizes within the Christian community to lift up a voice for candidates who share values of concern for the poor, peace and justice at home and abroad, and promoting the common good. We will be reaching out to undecided Christian voters to share about why we are supporting Barack Obama.
We are engaging a field of voters that progressives had ignored for far too long.
As people are reading McClellan's book perhaps this biggest story is the Bush personally authorized the CIA leak, and then forces Scott McClellan to lie about it.
There are several routes by which this is an impeachable offense.
The DNC Legal team has issued an opinion on the Fl/Mi delegates saying that no more than half should be seated. In a 38 Page memo the legal experts said half is the absolute most that can be seated.
The memo was issues Tuesday to the 30 members of the Rules and Bylaws Committee, saying half is "as far as it legally can." The legal team did not suggests how the committee should vote, and was only suggesting the parameters they can consider under the rule and election laws.
The opinion said the Rules and Bylaws Committee cannot restore all the votes. The only means by which that can occur is by taking it to the floor of the convention.
We had tragic news today. We only have a short period time left in the presence of Ted Kennedy. However, Teddy is not gone yet...and I say we push, like never before, to give Teddy what he has sought for years - Health Care for All. Year after Year Teddy has proposed the Kennedy Medicare for All Act...which extends Medicare to all.
As Kennedy is getting the best coverage possible in Boston...many many Americans with similar outlooks are being deemed unable to receive insurance or being dropped from their insurance. I'm positive that fact is not lost on Teddy. Congress goes on Memorial Day recess next week, and we should take the summer to push through this legislation.
SUSA has two state polls out today for PA and NM which show some great news. Obama has an 8 point lead in PA and is tied in NM. SUSA has stopped polling Clinton's numbers - sorry Clinton folks.
However, and perhaps more interesting, is that they have begun to poll VP picks and John Edwards helps the Obama ticket quite a bit in both states. I think this is a combination of Edwards being a known quantity, as well as his appeal to a voting base (outside of Kossacks) distinct from Obama. I wish SUSA would have included Hillary Clinton and Condi Rice in the cross-tabs...but oh well.
The Cape Cod Times is reporting that Senator Kennedy was transported by Medivac helicopter from Cape Cod Hospital. The Liberal Lion needs our prayers and thoughts right now
Since some in the party wish to talk electability lets have that conversation. This topic of "Reagan Democrats" is actually nearly the same as the southern evangelical vote, so I want to take some time with it. I'm going to open with some state-of-the-race national polls, but that is not this diary's focus - it is on the evangelical vote. These are the latest non-tracking national polls. They are based on likely voter frames off past turnout models - which (as pablano has shown) favor republicans. Its a long way out, but you got to like Obama's chances. Especially if you under the opinion the more voters see McCain the more they won't like him, and the more they see Obama the more they like him.
